Meet the Tarzana Team Behind Vance Gate Repair Tarzana
We’re a working crew, not a call center. The people who answer your call, show up in the van, and open your gate’s control box are the same people whose names are on the job record when we leave. Adrian started Vance Gate Repair Tarzana in 2014 after years on commercial access-control sites, and he hired the same way he worked: find people who document what they did, don’t just do it. Every one of us carries a camera, a notebook, and the habit of writing things down before touching a motor. That’s the whole system.
Our People
Adrian Vance, Owner
Adrian founded Vance Gate Repair Tarzana in 2014 after working commercial access-control jobs across the San Fernando Valley. Before that, he spent his days wiring card readers and photo-eyes on buildings where documentation was mandatory, which is why every residential visit now leaves a photographed record. He services nine automation brands, LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule, and would rather reset a limit switch than sell you a new motor you don’t need. He still takes service calls himself when the schedule is tight, and he’s the one who answers the phone at 2 a.m. when a gate won’t close on a Friday night. He’ll tell you most gate emergencies happen on Friday afternoons, and he’ll say it like it’s a weather forecast.
Marco R., Lead Technician
Marco has been with Vance since 2017, which makes him the longest-running technician besides Adrian. He came from an automotive background and moved to gates after diagnosing his first broken swing-arm operator in Encino, which he says was easier than a timing chain but harder than he expected. His specialty is welding and gate fabrication, especially sliding-gate tracks that have drifted off level and tear up the rollers. Marco keeps a small notebook in the van with wiring diagrams for older FAAC and DoorKing boards that are no longer in the manuals. He’s quiet until you ask him a question about a specific motor, and then you’ll get a conversation.
Dana S., Senior Installer
Dana started installing gates in 2015, before that, she ran new irrigation and lighting systems on hillside properties in Tarzana and Woodland Hills, which is where she learned to work with conduit and landscape-grade power runs. At Vance Gate Repair Tarzana she handles most of our new gate installations, including the underground work that most people never see. Her specialty is safety-edge and photo-eye placement on heavy wrought-iron gates, getting those zones set so the gate actually stops when a kid or a dog is in the path. She keeps a laser measure clipped to her belt and writes the post-depth and hinge-offset on the install sheet before concrete goes in. Dana is also the one who checks every completed install against the city’s gate code for the area, and she won’t sign off until the safety edges test correctly.
Tommy L., Service Coordinator
Tommy is the voice you hear first when you call (424) 258-8818 during the day. He started with Vance in 2019 after years in dispatch at a tow company, so he’s used to people calling in a bad mood because something stopped working. His job is to figure out what kind of gate you have, what it’s doing or not doing, and who to send, without asking you to be a technician first. He’s the one who texts you the technician’s name and photo before arrival, and he updates the job record when we’re on the way. Tommy grew up in the Valley and can give you cross-streets for almost any street in Tarzana without looking at a map. If he tells you someone’s 20 minutes out, he checked the van’s GPS before he said it.
One Standard, Every Job

The crew in Tarzana works under one rule: the written price comes before the work starts, and the documented record comes before we leave. That’s Haven Standard Clause 1 and Clause 4, and it applies whether we’re replacing a capacitor on a Viking operator or welding a cracked gate hinge in Reseda. Nobody on the team is allowed to start a repair without handing you a flat price first. Nobody is allowed to close a job without a photo log of what was found, what was adjusted, and what part number went in. We’re independently owned and operated, which means there’s no corporate office writing policy from another state. The policy is Adrian’s, the habits are the crew’s, and the work is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a repair isn’t right, one of the same people on this page comes back and makes it right, no argument, no fee, for a full year.
